FTL & Scanning

SpaceCraft FTL Travel & Planet Scanning Guide

Everything about jumping between systems efficiently and surveying planets for your next base.

01

Fit an FTL Coil

Buy or craft FTL Coil MK1 (Quartz Crystal ×6 + Copper Wire ×8). Slot it on your ship's utility rail. MK1 supports up to S-class ships.

02

Plot a jump

Open the Galaxy Map (M), click a destination star within range. The map shows charge cost in seconds and fuel cost in helium-3.

03

Reduce mass before charging

FTL charge time scales linearly with ship mass. Drop spare cargo, retract drones and disable shield generator to cut charge time by 30–50%.

04

Charge & jump

Hold F to charge. Charge bar fills faster near a station's FTL relay. Stay still — being hit interrupts the charge.

05

Arrive & scan

On arrival, run the Scanner T1 (default Z) to ping the system. Anomalies, abandoned wrecks and rare asteroid fields will appear as blue blips.

06

Land & scan a planet

Drop into orbit and engage the planetary scanner (X). A 3D heatmap of resource hot-spots appears — pin the densest cell for your base.
